Creating A Gift Basket For A Mom-To-Be

When giving a gift basket to a mom-to-be, there are many different themes that you might explore when determining the types of gifts to include inside of the basket. For the most part, you can focus on one or more of four areas: the baby, the mom, the home, or her relationship.

Focusing on the Baby
If you are going to focus on the baby with your gift basket, all of the items you include in the basket will be those that are specifically meant to help the baby. For example, you might select some cute little outfits, socks and shoes. You might also include a toy or a stuffed animal in the basket. Or, you might give the mom-to-be some diapers, diaper rash cream, bottles, bottle liners, and other objects for the baby.

Focusing on the Mom
If you will be focusing more on the mom, you might include items such as cream for her nipples if she will be breastfeeding or lotions for her skin to help her regain the elasticity in her skin. You can also focus on ways to pamper the mom-to-be, since she will soon be quite stressed out while caring for her new baby. For example, you might give her a gift certificate to a nice restaurant that is accompanied by a coupon for one night of free babysitting so she and her spouse can get away together one night after the baby is born. Herbal teas, scented candles, and bubble bath or bath salts can also be good gifts to give when focusing on the mom.

Focusing on the House
When focusing on the house, you might put together a baby basket that includes items that will help the mom-to-be keep the house safe for the new baby. Outlet covers, corner bumpers, cabinet latches, and more are all items that the mom-to-be will certainly need. You can also provide the mom-to-be with a coupon promising to come cook one meal for her or to clean her house one day. That way, she can relax and enjoy time with her baby instead.

Focusing on Her Relationship
Since having a new baby can be stressing to a relationship, you can put together a basket that will help your friend and her husband or boyfriend re-spark the romance. Give her a basket of non-alcoholic champagne (this is particularly important if she is breastfeeding), chocolate covered strawberries, and a DVD containing a number of romantic songs. Don't forget to include a coupon for a night of babysitting while she and her man reconnect.
