Internet telephony or VOIP uses your phone - the interface we're all familiar with, but instead of connecting your phone to the wall, you connect it to a box either the VOIP company provides or you buy on your own. This is the modem. You need high-speed/broadband internet for this. Your modem plugs into your cable/dsl modem and now it can 'talk' without your phone and the internet.

Your phone lines already do pretty much what VOIP does, just with different/older technology (well, some of it's new with optics and such, but...).

How hard is it to setup?

It's actually very easy. Assuming you have the company send you a modem or you buy a kit at the store, you simply plug the modem without your current cable/dsl modem and your computer (e.g., the out from your cable modem now goes to the new box and the out from that to your computer). It also has a phone jack for your regular phone.

Once it is on, it will boot up and configure itself. What are the benefits?

There are many benefits depending on the company you go w/, but here are a few I have (all of these are free with the monthly fee- $14.99 for my setup):

1.Features like caller id, call waiting, call waiting caller id, call forwarding, etc.

2.Voicemail

3.Email alerts for new voicemail.

4.Web access to voicemail - you can play your messages on your computer.

5.Auto-forward - if the phone is ever down or isn't answered, it's auto-routed to another number

6.Online management of all features, settings, account, etc.

7.Computer dialing - highlight any number on your computer, hit F6 and it sets up the call from your phone to theirs - very convenient!

8.Keep your regular phone (you don't need a Voip phone)

There are some other cool features available for extra $ like the soft phone which lets you use your computer as a phone w/o the modem - this means you can take your laptop with you wherever and you have your phone with the same phone number everywhere too (you can do this w/o the soft phone, but you have to take your VOIP modem around with you - not bad if you're going somewhere for a longer trip).

Another really cool thing is the virtual phone numbers. You can get extra numbers that ring the same phone, but they are local numbers to any area code you want. So if I live in Dallas and have family in New York, I can get a local phone number here and there. That way my family in New York can call a local number (free) and talk to me!

SunRocket charges $16.58 /month for that. I'm not sure about the others. And the biggest benefit - IT'S CHEAP! I pay $14.99 plus some tax and such, but not the ump-teen taxes, charges, fees, etc. like the phone company charges.

Also, if you do a little research/reading, you can set it up to where every phone jack in your house is wired for VOIP. It's little more than plugging the output of your VOIP modem into the wall jack you already have. Very little more.

Bottom Line

You get lots of good, free features and options for doing/managing a lot more including a lot over the web and it's SO much cheaper (at least it is for me!). Being the 'average guy' I am, I don't really use all the features. Fortunately, it's pretty much a 'set it up and forget about it' type thing except that I save $40+/month with it!

I use SunRocket because that's what I was told about first and it was one of the first. There are others and I'm sure they have their strengths, but SunRocket has the cheapest base option at the time I did my research.

FINDING HOT NICHES AND MARKETING TO THEM

I have absolutely no good ideas for a market/product.

I dont know where to find a hot product

I have a good list, but Ive run out of things to sell them

I dont know what a good market on the internet is

Have you ever found yourself in any of these positions?

I am so focused on internet success I have lots of energy, I have lots of motivation,

I have absolutely no idea how to find a market which isnt over-competitive, or how to find the best and hottest product before everyone has already bought that hot new product from my competitors.

I have been thinking and thinking, I have been reading and reading, Ive watched lots of Videos, received lots of different info from all kinds of Gurus, I have put so much energy into getting a good and serious start as an Internet Marketer, and yet it has all ended up in a very strange thing happening:

The more information you read, the more confusion and frustration you feel and the more empty of ideas you become.

Information Overload. You simply dont know where to start or end.

The internet business starters who share on - NO NICHE, NO IDEA, NO PRODUCT understand this dilemma well.

What is the solution ?

The very first Step you should take is to STOP.

Take a break. Go out to a place where you feel relaxed. Empty your head of all thoughts of work, and you will also empty out all the confusion in your head.

When your ears are no longer full of the white noise of information overload, another very strange thing will happen.

When a pleasant day, or maybe two, has passed then you will find that you feel relaxed and confident and full of renewed energy.

Suddenly, without any conscious effort, you will become able to hear the small cry of Take me, Take Me as your Perfect Product sings out to you from the welter of other hawkers cries.

That is the time to renew the search for your product or market and to renew that search in a focused, selective way. If you start to study everything again, you will only grow confused again.

Dont fall into that trap.

Instead, select a single source of information and you will find that whilst you were relaxing and enjoying life a faint idea drifted into your head of the Right Place to Look.

To start finding some hot products/markets here are some useful Tips:

One of the first things to consider when identifying hot markets/products is to brainstorm some niche website ideas. Some suggestions how to successfully brainstorm for such niches.

Maybe you dont know it, but Niche website ideas are all around you. It is important that you learn a technique, where you can set your brain in creative mood if you need coming up with some interesting website or product ideas. If it is your first time you are working on creating your first niche product, it is important to tap your brain into any passions you might already have.

Your hobbies
Imagine how much easier it's going to be, when you are working on something you have a real "passion" for! Therefore passion ideas is a very good place to start. Find a quiet, peaceful spot and picture a typical day or typical week. What do you enjoy of reading or talking about ? These are the most important topics to consider carefully, because if you choose one of them, you will find it easier to do the research. Most important of all, you are more likely to enjoy the project. Take a break and sit down a place you enjoy, and where you are not disturbed and spend 10 minutes "brainstorming" all that interests you, and just write down anything that comes to your mind. Does a neighbour grow beautiful roses ? Does a friend know a lot about wine ? You could interview that person to acquire unique, useful, interesting facts for your website.

Still not any luck............, ok we just move on in our Brainstorming Journey Look through these things to see if you can catch up any interesting ideas:

• Daily newspaper, magazines (take a tour to your local library and look at some of the popular articles, ads in the magazines, newspapers).
• TV
• Walk around your house or in your town, and considering every item you see.
• Walk into a magazine store and see which magazine catches your eye.
• Read the list of industries in the Yellow pages.Gardening, Cocking, Do it yourself etc., etc.
• Think of seasonal topics for example Halloween, Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas.
• Consider new trends, fads and fashions.

Still no luck, dont give up............ You just have to train your creative mood at least once a day. This is a question I get from most parents. But what parents fail to understand is, when they try to keep up with what their neighbors have, it puts a major strain on the family's finances. Our children are now copying our ways by trying to keep up with us!

We need to be sure to keep our finances in order and show our children good fiscal responsibility. Money is a precious resource that we work hard for and should not be taken lightly. The average person has a revolving credit debt of over $8500 and bankruptcies are on the rise. What we do as family money managers goes a long way in teaching our children how to manage their own money matters.

Financial mismanagement inside families is a growing problem that can be devastating to children. Losing a home to foreclosure, having to move because of bad debts, learning to do without many of the luxuries they had before can lead to depression, lack of self-confidence, and unresolved feelings toward their parents for putting them into that position.

What is even more painful for children, is how parents isolate them from the reasons why things happened. Children need to understand that it is not their fault and that the parents made the mistakes. 4- Get your children involved with your shopping.

Have your children start cutting out coupons and filing them away for you. Giving children responsibilities teaches them discipline, which is sorely lackingin our youth.

5- Don't just say no when they ask for something.

Explain to them the reasons behind why they cannot have the item, whether for financial, or other reasons, and show them alternatives that will give them confidence to make proper decisions later in life.

Children are a lot smarter than we give them credit for and they understand things better if you involve them. Don't talk down to them. Let them have a say in their lives. You will see that, we as parents, can change our destructive financial habits, and give our children something they need right now... the financial wisdom to carry throughout their lives.
